My daily (or whenever) thoughts on a myriad of things that are important to me.

Clue 3 solved… and birthdays.

I’ll take a picture later and post it for your viewing pleasure, but I finished Clue 3 this morning. It is good.

Now, you all know yesterday was an ER visit day. What you don’t know is, it was also my mother’s birthday. Now, mom & I don’t always get along (okay, usually don’t since my sexual persuasion drives her to the brink of insanity), but I always remember her birthday. This year, I started knitting in August in order to complete a scarf for her… well, I finished the Branching Out scarf waayyy back when, but I wasn’t happy with the blocking, so I was going to reblock it. It’s still folded up on my dresser.

This is not good, because this means I didn’t send her a present or a card and that’s just kinda wrong, yk? So, I’m trying to figure out how to reblock this fussy scarf, so that by the end of the week, I can put it in the mail to her with a nice note.

She’s trying to do better at being accepting of her children’s lifestyle choices. She was having dinner with my brother, his boyfriend and my son, J., last night. She’s trying to be tolerant, but it’s pretty darn hard for her. I’m trying to learn to have grace and understanding towards her, even though she can be really awful sometimes. It’s a work in progress, as you can see.

All that said, without my mother I would not be the person I am today. She raised me (until my early teens) to be an open-minded, critical thinking, questioning and independant person. I always asked “Why?” and was encouraged to look at all sides. Somethings change, but those early lessons are usually the hardest to forget and I wouldn’t forget those lessons for any reason.
